Muhe Yang

πŸ‘‹ I am a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Information Studies at McGill University and a member of the ACT Research Group, supervised by Prof. Karyn Moffatt.

I am a Human-Computer Interaction researcher and designer. My research lies in the intersection of social computing, design, and accessibility. My research goal is to design more accessible technologies for older adults and other underserved groups to support their social and health needs. My doctoral research focuses on investigating how to better design technologies to support physical activity for older adults living alone.

As a trained designer, I hold a M.F.A. in Information Design and Visualization and a B.Eng. in Industrial Design. My design work during my master’s and undergraduate studies is shown in this portfolio.

My doctoral research uses a human-centered design methodology and involves three phases: understanding user needs through diaries and semi-structured interviews, exploring solutions through co-design workshops, and testing design concepts through interviews. This poster shows its overview.
